Amber Rudd’s career exposed by the Guardian

Today’s Guardian reveals aspects of Amber Rudd’s past that the BBC seemed to ignore in its recent piece on her starry rise to the Home Office. The paper describes her financial involvement in two offshore companies in the Bahamas, her role in a company prospecting for diamonds in Siberia and as co-director for Monticello a company that was the subject of a share ramping investigation.

The paper stresses that there is ‘no suggestion  she was involved in any wrongdoing’ but notes the pressure to crack down on tax avoidance places her in an embarrassing position.

Her previous financial employment scarcely reflects the lifestyle of her constituents. One wonders how someone with such a record can in any way be said to ‘represent’ local interests.
