Support Refugees – Oppose Fascism this Saturday 22 October 11-2 outside Debenhams

Some two weeks ago hundreds of people , including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, walked through East London to commemorate the Battle of Cable Street in October 1936 when thousands of anti fascists stopped Mosley and his blackshirts marching through the East End. This was not just a commemoration but a protest against the current rise of racism, islamaphobia and anti-semitism.

Unfortunately such a demonstration is needed too in Hastings. A week after handing in a petition to Amber Rudd to be proactive around allowing refugees from the Calais refugee camp to come to Britain a neo nazi group from Portsmouth called South Coast Resistance has decided to come to Hastings to protest against refugees. They will be opposed by various organisations including Hastings and District Trades Council,Hastings Supports Refugees, Hastings and Rye Labour Party and Hastings Solidarity. Apart from opposing the presence of fascists in our town we are also collecting food both for Calais refugees AND for the local food bank. Please bring yourself – 11 -2 outside Debenhams – and some food if you can:
