Queens Arcade/York Gardens

Godfrey and I are continuing to have meetings with the businesses and residents in Queens Arcade and York Gardens regarding issues around anti-social behaviour. Godfrey is investigating better lighting and resurfacing of the roadway and pavements in York Gardens with the County Council. I am picking up issues with planning enforcement around the general state of the buildings.

Homedane/Holmebury Houses

Over the past few weeks Leah, Godfrey and I have met with the residents of both Homedane House and Holmebury House picking up on some of the issues affecting residents.

Open Surgery at The Plough

We had a very successful open session/surgery in the Plough on 11th December with lots of residents in attendance. We are going to look at having a day in the early summer with a residents’ picnic on the West Hill to highlight issues around dog fouling. We will look to use the opportunity to hand out dog poo bags and posters.

St Andrews Square Residents

St Andrews Square residents met this week and highlighted some success stories in terms of properties that had been grotbusted successfully and also the improvement on street bin collections following a meeting I had with Council officers.

St Mary’s Hall

Work has started on redeveloping St Marys Hall at the back of Portland Place. The building has been derelict for many years attracting anti-social behaviour.

Castle Ward Forum

The AGM of Castle Ward Forum was held on 30th January where Steve Baldry was re-elected as Chair and I was re-elected as Secretary. Some 20 residents attended and listened to Cllr Peter Chowney talking about the White Rock/Bohemia consultation and plans for Hastings Castle.
